In August 2023, Kevin Bailey joined the TURN team as Lead Organizer. Led by a drive to always increase the number of people he can impact, he felt that TURN not only allowed him to make good on his life’s mission but also offered a grand opportunity to work within the East Bay community, which has become home over the last few years.
Kevin brings a wealth of knowledge that he’s attained in his young organizing career. Having gotten his start as an external organizer with Service Employees International Union (SEIU), he has gone on to work at Child Care Providers United, where we helped organize providers to win collective bargaining rights along with pay raises and medical benefits. Following CCPU, he went on to lead the Gig Workers Rising campaign with Working Partnerships USA, a campaign that organized app-based workers in their fight for fair pay, adequate safety measures, and job security. Through his organizing journey, Kevin has developed skills that include relationship building, strategic campaign planning, and policy analysis.
Kevin has a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of Portland. In 2021, he returned to school, earning a Master’s in Public Policy from Mills College in Oakland, where he resides. In 2023, Kevin founded Activist Soul, a media platform that highlights the work of activists—both past and present—while also speaking with the organizers and changemakers who are critical to grassroots efforts and movement building. He hopes for Activist Soul to one day inspire the wave of future social justice warriors.
