California Ratepayer Protection Act

Utility bills are skyrocketing even as for-profit Investor-Owned Utility (IOUs) companies announced obscene profits. California residents have relied on the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to be our watchdog because there are no limits on how much utilities can ask for in increases or how many times a year they can ask. Yet utilities continue to be awarded unjustifiable rate increases; consumers are fed up and they want change! We are in crisis; we must fix this now.

AB 1167 will keep the cost of utility lobbying, promotional advertising, and other activities and other non-energy related expenses out of monthly energy bills. This bill will ensure greater accountability and transparency.
