Grant Writer and Fundraising Manager

We advocate for equitable policies that protect consumers, particularly in underserved communities, through policy change, research, and grassroots engagement.
Job Overview:
The Grant and Fundraising Manager will be responsible for leading efforts in securing funding and managing donor relations. Must have a proven track record in grant writing, fundraising campaigns, and donor management. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills and a passion for community development.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant Writing and Management:
Research and identify potential grant opportunities from government, corporate, and foundation sources.
Write, submit, and manage grant proposals, ensuring all deadlines are met.
Maintain relationships with grantors and provide timely reporting and updates.
Fundraising Strategy:
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the financial needs of TURN.
Create and manage fundraising campaigns, including online, direct mail, and event-based initiatives.
Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling fundraising materials.
Donor Relations:
Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
Develop and implement donor recognition programs to enhance donor retention.
Manage donor database, ensuring accurate records of all contributions and donor interactions.
Event Planning:
Plan and execute fundraising events, including galas, auctions, and community events.
Coordinate with vendors, sponsors, and volunteers to ensure successful event execution.
Financial Management:
Prepare and manage fundraising budgets.
Track and report on fundraising progress and financial metrics to senior leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business, or related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant writing and fundraising, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
Proven success in securing grants and meeting fundraising targets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in donor management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Passion for community development and the mission of TURN.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the nonprofit sector, particularly in advocacy or consumer protection organizations.
Knowledge of California’s utility policies and issues affecting consumers.
Proficiency in grant management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Work Hours:
Full-Time, 40+ hours. Monday – Friday.
This position is based out of TURN’s Oakland, CA headquarters. The majority of TURN’s team works on a hybrid schedule, but remote work may be negotiable for the right candidate.
Salary Range for Position – Grant Writer and Fundraising Manager:
$75K-$100K DOE
