Here’s how much lower your SDG&E bill might be in March

San Diego Gas & Electric announced Tuesday that the natural gas commodity price for March has dropped to 60 cents per therm — almost half of what was posted in February.

“Even though the (commodity) prices have come down, people are still faced with enormous bills for the past couple of months that a lot of people just can’t pay,” said Mark Toney, executive director of The Utility Reform Network (TURN), a ratepayer advocacy group.

Toney said the $16 million “is certainly plus,” but added: “It still feels like a drop in the bucket. That was an extraordinary circumstance in terms of the (natural gas) increase and extraordinary measures are appropriate in terms of shareholders digging a little deeper into their pockets to relieve some of the pain that so many of their customers are having.”
