TURN believes in a society where clean power, phone, and broadband are treated as basic rights for all families.
A sustainable future—for every family, every community, and our planet.
For over 50 years, TURN has organized, litigated, shaped state policy, and fought for a stronger California. We have challenged California’s powerful energy and telephone companies and stood up to corporate greed, saving millions of dollars for customers and businesses. We work with state and Federal legislators, support policy development, organize communities, and galvanize allies in order to hold utility companies accountable to their customers, not Wall Street billionaires.
TURN is committed to ensuring that no one in California is left behind, especially now, as we make the essential transition to a carbon-neutral energy base and California continues to face an enormous unhoused crisis. Let’s keep California families housed and power affordable for every home.
We hope you will join us—because a healthy California is better for everyone.
Our Priorities
-
Affordability, Equity & Climate Justice
No one should be left behind in our transition to a climate-conscious future.
The world is already shifting due to Climate Change, and those most impacted are likely to be families struggling to make ends meet, seniors, and children. California is leading the nation with aggressive goals and bold policy-making, but we must make sure that every family, neighborhood, and community can participate equitably. We have a responsibility to both, our planet and our communities. No one should be left behind as the state transitions to renewable sources of power.
-
Telephone & Broadband
In our modern world telephone and broadband access are basic necessities.
Access to telephone and broadband service are required for safety, education, and employment. Without phone and adequate internet access, families find it increasingly difficult to find work or excel on a career path, students fall behind on classes, and the connection to emergency services is reduced.
-
Affordable Wildfire Safety
PG&E Wildfire Accountability
Under any circumstance, wildfire can be terrifying. Severe drought and Climate Change have now created the perfect set-up for mass fire events. During these crisis events it is critical that we hold energy companies like PG&E accountable for their actions and choices, and keep the burden of fixing incompetence or indifference from falling primarily on ratepayers.
