Isabella Montoya joined TURN in October 2023 as a Utility Justice Legal Fellow. She is passionate about ratemaking and ensuring that everyone has access to reliable and affordable clean energy. Prior to joining TURN, she interned at the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office on the Energy and Telecommunications Team, and at the Vermont Attorney General’s Office in the Environmental Protection Division.
Montoya received her JD and Master of Energy Regulation and Law from Vermont Law School where she was an active member of Law Review and the Institute for Energy and the Environment. Additionally, she received an academic award for her coursework in Legal Essentials of the Electric Grid and was a Civil Procedure Teaching Assistant. As part of her education, she has traveled to Montana to study tribal law and public land management, and to Cuba to study sustainable agriculture and energy production. Montoya holds a BA from Towson University in Foreign Languages and Mass Communication.
In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, running, and exploring local farmers markets.
